Winning at front-end development with Dana
Dana has been with us since the beginning of the company 3 years ago. She was already a skilled front-end developer, and since then, proved to be an A-player appreciated across assignments. Her Mamba mentality makes her a great model for junior colleagues – and a fierce adversary on the basketball court, and any sport for that matter.
Why did you join FXBITS, and what has kept you here?
The very first thing that attracted me to FXBITS was the people who make up the company. I consider this to be a crucial aspect and here I found a great team of professionals, full of energy and ideas and eager to make a difference with their work.
For me, the company and the people within should also be like a second family, and this is another box that FXBITS checked right from the beginning. We work hard, but we also know how to have fun together and this is something that helped us never lose touch even during pandemic times with increasing remote working.
Being part of the company from its early start allowed me to see it grow and to be a part of its development. This is a place where your voice can be heard, and bold ideas are not only welcomed but encouraged. This is why I consider myself to be a part of this team for the long run, as I feel that we can still accomplish a lot together.
What have you gained from working at FXBITS?
At FXBITS I can get outside of my comfort zone regularly. Continuously challenging and improving myself have been of great help to both my career and personal development and having experts in both technical areas as well as interpersonal skills make the company a great place for learning.
What is your favorite part about working at FXBITS?
I love how there is a strong accent on the importance of communication. Here each of us is the driver and we are all encouraged to speak out, share our experiences and provide feedback for and about the activities going around to improve ourselves individually and as a group.
How do you spend your time outside of the office?
In my spare time, I try to be as active as possible. One of my first thoughts while leaving the office in the afternoon is ‘How many steps did I make today? Should I take the bus or walk home? Doesn’t matter, I’ll just walk some more ‘.
Office life has also its downsides, and because I am sitting at my desk for a good amount of the day, physical activity is very important to stay healthy and I try to incorporate it in everyday life.
I feel that in these modern times the life aspects outside the digital bubble are easy to overlook so I like trying out new sports and exploring different activities to find the ones which make it so fun to be active that it doesn’t feel like a chore that you just need to get done.
How do you define success in life?
I think success is different for each of us, and it all depends on the goals that we set for ourselves. My focus has changed dramatically as I moved through life, but I think that if you are happy with what you do, and this is on all life plans, you can call yourself successful.
When are you the happiest?
When I am around the people I love.
Seeing them achieve their goals, make the best out of their life and working on their dreams gives me a feeling of happiness unlike anything else. I love seeing people happy and it also gives me the motivation to pursue my dreams and work for the future I want to build for myself.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This is easy, chicken with rice, just ask anybody in the office 😅
What’s your motto or personal mantra?
‘Be the change that you wish to see in the world’ - the wise words of Mahatma Gandhi.
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it?
The tales of an overly happy extroverted introvert.
